The American Presidency

Northampton Community College is proud to announce the 2012-2013 humanities theme: The American Presidency. Programs and activities will be supported by the Challenge Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Dr. Brian Alnutt, assistant professor of history, will be the faculty coordinator. Dr. Alnutt holds a Ph.D. in history from Lehigh University.

The American Presidency will be a multidisciplinary exploration of the evolving role and powers of the presidency in American history. The year's activities will tie into the upcoming presidential election cycle by engaging NCC, our challenge grant partner organizations, and the external communities we serve in discoveries, discussions, and debates about both the ways in which selected presidents have used the office, and larger questions about the role of the federal government in American life.

We envision another rich year of discussions, displays, films, and a keynote speaker. Rather than examining all of the American presidents to date, we will instead focus on select presidents and their approach to the office.

Please join us in celebrating the humanities at NCC.
