CALA0156 - Jewelry Arts II Mini: Bezel Setting Cabochons
Prerequisite: Students MUST have successfully completed Jewelry Arts I: Metalworking Basics AND Soldering. Students will continue to gain a better understanding of metalsmithing concepts and work towards refinement of technical skills. Making a bezel from standard bezel wire, fabrication of heavy hammer-set bezels, and the making of bezel setting tools will be covered in this five week course. CALS1177 - Tracing the History of Pennsylvania Barns and Stars
As barns continue to disappear from the countryside, Instructor Robert Ensminger takes students to earlier times when barns were the pinnacle of agricultural importance. Many were decorated with colorful designs of flowers, birds and geometric patterns, all symbolic of specific meanings. In later years, these decorations were called hex signs. The instructor, a retired college professor and recognized expert on Pennsylvania barns and stars, conveys the historical and cultural importance of these structures and decorations in a three-hour illustrated program.
CALS1211 - Crafts: Wheat Weaving
Wheat weaving is an ancient folk art celebrating the harvest. Two techniques used in this three-hour class will focus on holiday preparations. The first technique is plaiting straw. Finished plaits will be shaped into Christmas ornaments. The second technique uses splits of straw to make delicate straw snowflakes. These traditional German straw snowflakes can be used on greeting cards and as ornaments. The class fee includes use of the placement rings in the class.

Gunshots were heard and the police were called. At the crime scene there were two bodies and lots of blood ? but no murder weapon! What happened here? Can examination of the blood tell the story? Come and learn the basics of blood splatter analysis! We will use blood splatter analytical techniques to determine what type of weapon(s) caused the injuries, the exact location of the victims when they were first injured, if the victims were moved after being injured and if there was anyone else in the room.
